STONE WAY RESTAURANT - HAERFEST
A contemporary restaurant design in Seattle's Fremont neighborhood, Haerfest was built for a well-known local restaurateur who wanted a space that could move fluidly between everyday dining and exclusive private events. The design is built around an open kitchen and a restrained material palette that keeps the focus where it belongs - on the food and the people sharing it.
Upon entering, guests are drawn immediately to the open kitchen, where the chef has an unobstructed view of every table — a client priority that shapes the entire layout and creates a direct, energetic connection between the kitchen and the dining floor. The space accommodates a range of experiences: a chef's counter for close-in dining, a private dining room for events, and open seating with a bar for everyday use.
The minimalist approach is deliberate. Full-height white oak screen walls divide the dining area into intimate sections without closing the room off, while pendant lights define distinct zones throughout. Low wood slat ceilings anchor key areas like the bar, banquettes, and chef's counter, adding warmth and texture to an otherwise clean composition. Vibrant accents of deep blue - running through the wallpaper, tiles, and upholstery - bring energy and contrast to each unique space within the restaurant. The cumulative effect is an atmosphere that feels refined and purposeful without ever feeling stiff.
